In a way, the images of the dancers are very 1920's if you know what we
mean. The dramatic poses, the adepts of a mysterious leader.
As Mr. Ouspensky said, the floating eyes that you follow down a dark
street to lead you to the doorway, etc. One has to look beyond this.
The outer is not important, neither is the form that a particular teacher
chooses to impart his knowledge and understanding. Perhaps the real
science beyond it all, is the energy, or "Barrakka" that we think only
J.G. Bennett actually mentioned in his writing. The directly transmitted
energy of a real teacher. This is why you join groups, it is the glue that
holds it all together. The real students of a teacher are allowed to be
plugged into this source, and though the relationship, it accelerates their
evolution. Whatever people say about he tension between Mr. Gurdjieff
and Mr. Ouspensky, something moved between them that was very special.
At a certain point, Mr. Gurdieff knew the only way for Mr. Ouspensky to
move to his next level, was to drive him away.
